i <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL INVESTIGATION REPORT <br /> Unocal Service Station No 5886 <br /> 2701 West March Lane <br /> Stockton California <br /> Delta Project No D195-066 <br /> Page 16 <br /> i4 7 6 New Tank Ballast Water <br /> Following the installation of the new 15,000 gallon tanks, new ballast water was placed in the tanks <br /> iApproximately 15,000 gallons of water was placed in each tank Water samples were collected from each <br /> of the three new tanks on October 30, 1995, in preparation for disposal of the water Each sample was <br /> ianalyzed for BTEX, TPH as gasoline, and TPH as diesel All analytes were below the laboratory's limits <br /> of detection, except for diesel from the new T3 This sample was slightly above the analysis detection <br /> iIimit at 52 µg/L A summary of the analytical results are presented in Table 7 and copies of the <br /> laboratory analytical reports and chain-of-custody documentation are presented in Appendix C <br /> 4 7 7 Ballast Water Disposal <br /> i Ballast water collected from the old 12,000 gallon USTs was disposed of by Erickson on <br /> November 13, 1995 The water was disposed of under a special pernut for wastewater discharge <br /> obtained by Tait and Associates, Inc of Rancho Cordova, California The City of Stockton Department <br /> tooof Municipal Utilities permit allowed discharge of the ballast water to the sanitary sewer located on-site <br /> This permit is effective from November 6, 1995 to February 1, 1996 It is Delta's understanding that <br /> ifollowing the completion of the station upgrade, the ballast water in the new 15,000 gallon tanks was also <br /> disposed of under this permit A copy of the permit is attached in Appendix 1 <br /> 1 <br /> 4 7 S Stockpile Soil S=Vling, Disposal, and Analytical Results <br /> Pea-gravel and soil excavated from the tank cavity on October 25, 1995 was sampled on <br /> October 26, 1995 for disposal characterization Samples were collected using the methods described in <br /> iAppendix B Two soil samples were collected approximately every 50 cubic yards and submitted to <br /> Sequoia for compositing and chemical analyses Benzene, toluene, and ethylbenzene were not reported <br /> iabove the laboratory's limits of detection Slight concentrations of TPH as gasoline, TPH as diesel and <br /> lead were reported A tabulation of the analytical results for the material removed from the tank cavity <br /> ' are presented in Table 2 Copies of the laboratory reports and chain-of-custody documentation are <br /> presented in Appendix C <br /> RPT 160 SJS <br /> 1 <br />
