Apr'-27 -9B 04 : 21P GHH E-Oneering Inc •. P-03
Soil samples from the UST excavation were collected using the excavator bucket. Dispenser and
product line samples were collected at the bottom of their pipe trenches. The soil samples were
collected in 6-inch long. 2-inch diameter brass rubes; sealed with plastic end caps and Teflon tape;
labeled in accordance with EPA protocol; recorded on a chain-of-custody (COC) fottn; stored in
a pre-cooled ice chest at 40 degrees Centigrade; and shipped to Sierra Laboratories (Siena), a
California certified analytical laboratory for analysis. Strict COC protocol was maintained
throughout the supple handling process.
All samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons in the gasoline range UPH G; EPA
Method 8015M), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, toluene, and xylenes (BTEX; EPA Method
8020), methyl-tert-butyl-ether (MTBE.; EPA Method 8020) and lead(EPA Method 6010).
Selected soil samples were also analyzed for the gasoline oxygenates di-isopropyl ether, ethyl
tertiary butyl ether, tertiary aroyl methyl ether, tertiary butyl alcohol and methyl-tert-butyl-ether
(DIPE, ETBE,TAME.TBA, MTBE; EPA Method 8260). Diesel tank samples, dispenser sample
D-7 and product line samples P-5 and P-6 were analyzed for total petrolcurrt hydrocarbons in the
diesel range (TPH D; EPA Method 8015M) in the place of TPH G. Soil sample results are
summarized in Tables 1, 2, 3 and 4. Laboratory results and COC.documentation are included as
Attachment A.
Soil sample analytical data indicates that some TPH G impacted soil was left on-site. The USTs
and associated piping were replaced and the excavations backfilled following approval by the
County representative.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please call the undersigned at (916)
723-7645.
Thank you,
Vern A.
