•S.A. PETROLEUM CORPORATION
GETTLER - RYAN INC
SCOPE OF WORK
JOBS - 9473 THRU 9495
I . Background Review
A. Location History
1 . Previous land use - dumps, landfill , etc.
2. Construction/tank installation dates - old tank locations.
3. Type of underground tanks and product storage.
4. Leak/spill locations and durations (if applicable) .
5. Product types and amount lost ( if applicable) .
II . Observation Well Installation
A. Obtain necessary permits.
B. Drilling and well installation.
1 . Soil borings will be installed at each pump island and at
30 foot intervals between the pump islands and the tank
excavation along the product line trench. Additional
borings should be made at individual tank excavations
( i .e. waste oil , fuel oil ) . Each boring should extend to
20 feet. Soil samples will be obtained every 5 feet. If
groundwater is encountered within 20 feet, the borings
should be extended (if needed) , and completed as observation
wells. The borings and wells should be installed in down
gradient locations.
2. Two observation wells will be installed at the down gradient
side of the tank complex. 'Do not install the wells in the
tank backfill material . If the location has no leak history
and groundwater is not encountered by 45 feet, the holes will
be grouted. If the location has a leak history, drilling
should continue until groundwater is encountered but not to
exceed 100 feet. If groundwater is not encountered the hole
should be grouted and the second hole need only extend to
20 feet. Soil samples will be taken every 5 feet.
3. Install observation wells in any abandoned tank excavations
(if applicable) .
4. Install observation wells in any obviously contaminated areas
(if applicable) .
5. All casings, fittings and augers will be steam cleaned before
any usage of same. e
6. Hand excavate each well/boring location, minimum 12 inches W
x 12 inches x 4 feet deep, to insure that no underground /fid
utilities or piping are encountered during drilling. .
7. Since the station lots are all concrete, saw cut all excavated
areas before setting new concrete.
S. Install locking caps and locks on all observation wells
immediately upon completion.
