1
' GROUNDWATER MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION WORKPLAN
OCTOBER, 1994
' Collect soil samples from the ground surface at 5-foot intervals to the first
occurrence of groundwater Selected soil samples will be analyzed for TPH
quantitated against gasoline and diesel standards and benzene, toluene,
' ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX)using EPA methods 8015 and 8020,
respectively
• Purge and sample groundwater from each of the three installed monitoring wells
All groundwater samples will be analyzed for TPH, BTEX and total lead using
EPA methods 8015, 8020 and 7421, respectively, and
• Survey well casings for relative elevation and measure depths to groundwater in all
' wells to evaluate the groundwater flow direction and hydraulic gradient
' 2 0 WORKPLAN
Park has developed a scope of work to address the terms outlined in the letter from the
PHS/EHD dated January 4, 1993 The proposed scope of work was summarized in Section 1 2,
and selected assessment activities are further described in the following sections
21 Utility Survey
Pitor to conducting any subsurface investigations Underground Service Alert will be notified to
locate any utilities in the vicinity of the site This will serve to assess any potential drilling
obstructions beneath the subject site and enhance the assessment of man-made structures
potentially acting as conduits for migration of contanunants
22 Soil Borings
Three soil borings will be drilled to total depths of approximately 85-feet bgs or 10-feet below
first groundwater for soil sampling and installation of groundwater monitoring wells The
' locations of the groundwater monitoring wells will be off-site in up-gradient, down-gradient and
northwesterly directions These proposed locations are shown on Figure 2 Actual boring
locations will be selected when field work commences
Soil borings will be advanced using a truck mounted dnll ng with hollow-stern continuous flight
augers The augers will be steam cleaned prior to drilling each boring The lithology and other
' pertinent data will be recorded on a field boring log in accordance with the Unified Soil
Classification System (USCS)
