1 <br />' GROUNDWATER MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION WORKPLAN <br /> OCTOBER, 1994 <br />' Collect soil samples from the ground surface at 5-foot intervals to the first <br /> occurrence of groundwater Selected soil samples will be analyzed for TPH <br /> quantitated against gasoline and diesel standards and benzene, toluene, <br />' ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX)using EPA methods 8015 and 8020, <br /> respectively <br /> • Purge and sample groundwater from each of the three installed monitoring wells <br /> All groundwater samples will be analyzed for TPH, BTEX and total lead using <br /> EPA methods 8015, 8020 and 7421, respectively, and <br /> • Survey well casings for relative elevation and measure depths to groundwater in all <br />' wells to evaluate the groundwater flow direction and hydraulic gradient <br />' 2 0 WORKPLAN <br /> Park has developed a scope of work to address the terms outlined in the letter from the <br /> PHS/EHD dated January 4, 1993 The proposed scope of work was summarized in Section 1 2, <br /> and selected assessment activities are further described in the following sections <br /> 21 Utility Survey <br /> Pitor to conducting any subsurface investigations Underground Service Alert will be notified to <br /> locate any utilities in the vicinity of the site This will serve to assess any potential drilling <br /> obstructions beneath the subject site and enhance the assessment of man-made structures <br /> potentially acting as conduits for migration of contanunants <br /> 22 Soil Borings <br /> Three soil borings will be drilled to total depths of approximately 85-feet bgs or 10-feet below <br /> first groundwater for soil sampling and installation of groundwater monitoring wells The <br />' locations of the groundwater monitoring wells will be off-site in up-gradient, down-gradient and <br /> northwesterly directions These proposed locations are shown on Figure 2 Actual boring <br /> locations will be selected when field work commences <br /> Soil borings will be advanced using a truck mounted dnll ng with hollow-stern continuous flight <br /> augers The augers will be steam cleaned prior to drilling each boring The lithology and other <br />' pertinent data will be recorded on a field boring log in accordance with the Unified Soil <br /> Classification System (USCS) <br />
