Weber Ave., Fourth Floor
Stockton, CA 95201-0388
Subject: Revised Workplan for Underground 'Fuel Tank In-Place Abandonment at BJJ
Company, Inc. located.at 2431 .East Mariposa Road, Stockton, California.
Dear Mr. Knoll,
ATC Associates Inc. has prepared this letter=report on behalf of BJJ Company, Inc. to serve as an
addendum to a previous report titled Revised Preliminary Report%Workplan for the Underground
Fuel Tank In-Place Abandonment. This previous report was prepared by WaterWork
Corporation and dated May 7, 1990.
BACKGROUND
BJJ Company, Inc. operates a, truck terminal facility at the subject site.(Figure 1). Three
underground fuel storage tanks are maintained at the facility. Two of the tanks are newly installed
double walled tanks used to contain diesel for company trucks. These tanks are located near the
facility entrance. The other tank is a 3,500-gallon underground tank located partially beneath one
of the maintenance buildings. Due.to the location of the tank, BJJ Company, Inc. requested and
received conditional.approval for in-place abandonment from the Montezuma 'Fire Protection
District. Additionally, BJJ Company, Inc. -submitted a completed Underground Storage Tank
Closure Permit Application and associated fee to San Joaquin County Public Health Services,
Environmental Health Division(PHS/EHD)to abandon the tank in place. Figure 2 depicts the tank
and piping locations relative to other-facility features.
On June 15,-1990, at the request of PHS/EHD, Waterwork Corporation personnel advanced two
angled soil borings(ASB-1 and ASB-2)beneath the existing tank. These borings were advanced at
45° from vertical and terminated'beneath the longitudinal centerline of the tank approximately 5
feet beneath the tank bottom. Soil samples were collected and analyzed for total petroleum
hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) by EPA Method 8015, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and
W:1943041reports\UST dosumdoc 1
