It measures 60" long x 46" wide x 58" tall. It has a flat bottom and top
and is mounted on 3" steel channels resting on a concrete slab. The tank is steel. The
waste is a non-RCRA hazardous waste. The collection trough, pumps and piping are
outside of secondary containment. The waste antifreeze is transferred to the waste
storage tank from an adjacent waste oil collection trough, which is emptied at the end of
each day.
The tank was manufactured in June of 2000 by Containment Solutions, SN 887435. The
design standard is UL 142. The secondary tank wall was measured by UTG and is 3.1
mm. The UL 142 Standard for minimum wall thickness for new tanks of this type is 2.36
mm. The tank is mounted off the ground within secondary containment. This
configuration makes the tank a class I category by the STI SP001 specification. This
specification allows the tank to remain in service if the minimum wall thickness is greater
than 50 percent of the designed minimum wall thickness. Based on the UL 142 standard
and the SP001 specification the tank can remain in service until the wall thickness is 1.2
mm. Based on the current thickness and an estimated corrosion rate of 0.1 mm per year,
the expected life of the tank is 24 years.
Assessment
The following items need to be repaired or replaced prior to receiving the Title 22
certification.
