EMPLOYEE: Juhan Raud CHEMIST RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinates and supervise of all field activities involving chemical identification, segregation, packaging, and transport. The Chemist coordinates with the Project Manager on waste identification and packaging, fingerprinting of unknown material, segregating and lab packing, completing Material Inventory Forms, profiling waste and labeling. Other job duties may include directing technicians, preparing shipping papers and providing support to the Project manager as necessary. QUALIFICATIONS 1. BS in Chemistry or science related field or equivalent job experience. 2. Basic knowledge of 49 CFR, 40 CFR, 29 CFR and California Title 22 regulations as applicable to Household Hazardous Waste. 3. Requires ability to direct and supervise on-site staff. 4. The position requires ability to accurately prepare Hazardous Waste Shipping papers per DOT requirements. 5. In-depth knowledge of chemistry and packaging requirements as it applies to HHW material. • 40 -hour training course (with 8 -hour annual refresher) in Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response as prescribed by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration in 29 CFR 1910.120. • Injury and Illness Prevention Program Training (w/bi-annual refresher) • Job specific training specified by the Occupational Safety and Health Standards of Title 29 (Annual refresher or as necessary to accommodate job duties) • Procedures for the proper handling and Transportation of Hazardous Material Training in accordance with DOT HM 181 and 215a. (Bi -annual refresher) • Respirator Protection and Personal Protective Equipment Training in accordance with 29 CFR 1910, Subparts 1 and 2 (annual refresher) • Segregation procedures for classifying hazardous wastes (Annual refresher) • Containerization methodologies for disposal options (Recycling, Incineration, Treatment, Landfill) (annual refresher) • Waste profiling (annual refresher) • Spill response protocols (annual refresher) • Contingency plans and implementation (annual refresher) • Forklift Certification Page 8
