There are two types of smoke detectors out there: <br />photoelectric and ionization smoke alarms contain plastic and electronic circuit boards and in some cases <br />batteries (alkaline or lithium); Ionization technology also includes a chamber containing radioactive material <br />incorporated into a matrix.
