The sample sealing technique consiRstod of capping
the brass tube with aluminum foil., plastic end cap F; and a final
seal of elastic tape. The previously sealed sample from the five
foot depth at location MCW 1 was discarded.
Following the collection of sample MCW 11, the auger and tube
driver were thoroughly decontaminated utilizing a potable
water/laboratory reagent soap mixture wash followed by a potable
water rinse and a deionized water final rinso.
rhe next location sampled was MCW 02. This location is between the
central tank and the so,.ithern most tank (T2 and T3) . An with
location MCW 11, sampled were collected at depths of five feet and
nine feet PGS. The five foot depth sample from MCW #2 was labeled
MCW 02-5 and the nine foot depth sample was labeled MCW 02. Doth
of these samples were field screened, sealed, labeled and stored on
ice.
Attempts were made to sample several other locations in the
vicinity of the three tanks, but to no avail. Auger rejection
occurred at depths of two to three feet BGS at three alternative
locations near the tanks. Therefore, the derision was made to }seep
the five foot depth sample from location MCW X92 for analysis.
Next, the area around t:hF fuel distribution pipelinrsl, was sampled.
Two locations (PL 91 and PL 12 as shown on Figure 1) were selected.
Location PL 01 was sampled first. Again, prior to sampling, the
auger was thoroughly decontaminated as explained previously.
r Borehole PL 11 was advanced to a depth of eight feet BGS with the
hand auger. sample PL #1 was collected at this depth, field
screened, sealed, labeled and stored on ice. Borehole Pi 12 was
advanced to a depth of five feet, at which depth the auger could
not be advanced further. Sample PL #2 was collected from this
depth.
Finally, a sample was collected from the fuel dispenser island
area. open dirt existed beneath a coverplate near an overhead
structure support pole. This coverplate was installed to allow for
access to the lighting electrical conduit which rises from below
gr4?a at that point. The borehole at this location could only be
advanced 1.3 feet BGS. sample FL was collected from that depth.
once completed, the samples were stored in a refrigerated
environment over night for delivery to the analytical laboratory
the following morning. Appropriate chain of custody documents
accompanied the sample delivery. The sample chain of castody
record is enclosed with the analytical results In Appendix A. .All
PID-readings-forthe field screened nampins are listed in Table 1.
3
