UNOCAL Corporation December 15, 1993 Page 5 One soil sample each from Borings U-A, U-B, and U-E through U-G, and two samples each from Borings U-C and U-D were analyzed for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons calculated as Gasoline (TPH-Gasoline) according to EPA Method 8015 (Modified), and for Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene and Xylenes (BTEX) according to EPA Method 8020 The sample from Boring U-A was also analyzed for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons calculated as Diesel (TPH-Diesel) and as Motor Oil (TPH-Oil) according to EPA Method 8015 (Modified), Oil and Grease (O&G) according to Standard Method 5520 E and F, the Waste Extraction Test (WET) for nickel according to CCR WET methodology with de-ionized water, halogenated solvents according to EPA Method 8010, and a suite of five metals (cadmium, chromium, nickel, lead, and zinc) by atomic absorption/ICAP The sample from Boring U-E was also analyzed for O&G, WET lead and WET nickel One sample from Boring U-H was analyzed for TPH-Diesel, TPH-Oil, O&G, and BTEX Petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in all samples from Borings U-C and U-D TPH-Gasoline concentrations ranged from 1 ,600 to 2,900 ppm Benzene was not detected in these samples Samples from Borings U-A, U-B, and U-E through U-H did not contain detectable concentrations of the requested analytes STOCKPILE SAMPLES AND STOCKPILE DISPOSITION Approximately five cubic yards of drill cuttings were placed on plastic sheeting along the northern edge of the property One sample (US-1), consisting of four discrete samples tubes composited in the laboratory prior to analysis, was collected from this stockpile The sample was analyzed for TPH-Gasoline, TPH-Diesel, TPH-Oil, BTEX, and O&G TPH-Gasoline (1 ,900 ppm) and TPH-Oil (62 ppm) were detected in this sample Benzene was not detected in this sample The stockpile was covered with plastic sheeting, and arrangements for disposal are pending 782702-3
