!, 22 May 2000
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0432
' samples were labeled and placed in a chilled container for transportation under chain-of-custody to
McCampbell Analytical Laboratory(MAI) in Pacheco, California, a State of California Department
of Health Services (DHS) Laboratory. Each sample was analyzed for:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline and diesel (TPH-g and TPH-d) in .
accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified,
' Volatile aromatic compounds: benzene, toluene, ethyl-benzene and total xylenes (BTEX)
with methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) in accordance with EPA Method 8020 and
' Fuel oxygenating compounds including di-isopropyl ether(DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether
(ETBE), ethanol, MTBE, tertiary-amyl methyl ether(TAME)and tertiary-butanol (TBA) in
accordance with EPA Method 8260 Modified.
3.0. FINDINGS
3.1. GROUND WATER ELEVATION, FLOW DIRECTION AND GRADIENT
Depth to ground water at the site ranged from 13.35 to 14.25 feet below well casing top. The ground
water elevation in eachwell was calculated from these data. The ground water elevations at the site
ranged from 23.65 feet to 23.79 feet above mean sea level (Table 1). The ground water flow
direction and gradient were calculated from the well elevation data.
' Contours of the ground water elevation data indicate that the ground water flow was directed toward
the northwest. Figure 3 illustrates the contoured ground water elevations.
3.2. , HYDROCARBON-IMPACTED GROUND WATER
' TPH-g was only detected in ground water sample MW-I at 290 micrograms per liter(,ug/1). TPH-d
were detected in the samples MW-1 and MW-2 at 170 gg/1 and 200 ,ugll, respectively. BTEX
' compounds were not detected in any of the ground water samples analyzed from the site.
MTBE was detected in samples MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3 utilizing EPA method 8020 at
' concentrations of 26,000 ug/l, 1,100 Ag/1 and 170 kigll, respectively. These concentrations were -
requantified by EPA method 8260m at 3 1,000µg/1, 1,200,ug/l and 150,ug/l, respectively. TBA was
also detected in MW-1 of 1,500 pg/l. No other fuel oxygenates were detected in the three samples.
Analytical results from ground water samples are summarized in Tables 2 and 3. The laboratory' reports(MAI Laboratory ID 36901 to 36904),quality assurance and quality control(QA/QC)reports
' and chain-of-custody forms are included in Appendix B.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
1 i
