SYSTEM DESIGN, INSTALLATION,AND OPERATION PROCEDURES
All field procedures will be overseen by an AGE representative Procedures for dedicated low-flow
pump installation, dedicated pressure transducer installation and pump and treat procedures are
described below
4 1 GROUND WATER EXTRACTION
A Grundfos Rediflow down-well pump, type 5E5, equipped with Franklin % hp, 230V, 3-ware
motors will be installed in EW-1 One-inch diameter Schedule 80 PVC pipe will be installed from
the submersible pump and discharged through the well-head sanitary seal, a safety chain will be
installed at the sanitary seal to prevent dropping the pump to the well bottom To minimize sediment
intake through the pump, the bottom of the pump/motor assembly will be suspended approximately
one foot from the bottom of the well Electrical wiring will be connected from the top of the pump
through Class I electrical connectors/junction boxes and electrical conduit to the pump electric
controller Ground water will be continuously pumped from the bottom of the six-inch diameter
extraction well EW-1 at a low-flow rate between four and five GPM and routed through underground
PVC piping to a 750-gallon holding tank, dedicated Solanst Level Logger pressure transducers will
be deployed an selected on-site wells to measure difference in ground water levels before well .
pumping versus during well pumping-
4
umping4 2 WELL AND PROCESS PUMP CONTROLLERS
Both the submersible Grundfos pump at EW-1 and the ground water treatment process pump will
be controlled by PumpTec controllers Pump controls will be actuated by an amperage sensing/time
control switch This swatch will detect decrease in amperage when water level drops below the
impeller intake from the Grundfos pump The pump which will be outfitted with automated
electronic shut-off controls to control water entering the system AGE anticipates total a ground
water extraction flow rate at 5 GPM
The process pump, located behind the holding tank (Figure 3), will be controlled by electrode
switches placed at various levels in the holding tank An emergency shut-off swatch will be located
immediately below the top of the holding tank. An intermediate pump-on switch will be placed
approximately 8-inches below the emergency shut-off switch and activate the process pump
Intermediate pump-off switches will be utihzed near the bottom of the holding tank to turn the
process pump off
• Electricity is readily available to the site A dedicated electrical meter base will be installed by
representatives of AGE that will connect directly to the pump and treat system
Advanced GeoEovnronmental,Ine
