• 08 January 2004 , <br /> AGE-NC Project No 95-0103 <br /> Page 4 of 8 <br /> 3.4 FINDINGS <br /> From field data collected at the ground water treatment system between 19 August and 15 December <br /> 2003 AGE determined the average TPH-g and benzene concentrations and the average flow rate,and <br /> calculated the approximate mass and volume of TPH-g and benzene removed Groundwater flow <br /> direction and gradient was determined from the field data collected on 28 November 2003, the <br /> contaminant impact to ground water was assessed from laboratory data <br /> 3 1 GROUND WATER TREATMENT RESULTS <br /> Between 19 August and 15 December 2003, the pump-and-treat system extracted and treated <br /> approximately 250,254 gallons of impacted groundwater(Table 4),for a total of 2,709,959 gallons <br /> of water treated since ground water extraction began on 02 April 2002 This quarterly total of <br /> extracted ground water was reduced due to a one month ground water remediation hiatus from 18 <br /> October to 18 November 2003 <br /> 3 1 1 Laboratory Analysis of Influent and Effluent Ground Water Samples <br /> TPH-g and BTEX compounds were detected in the influent samples from wells EW-1,EW-2,EW-3 <br /> and VW-6 The following is a summary of the detected concentrations <br /> • 18 October 2003 The highest concentrations were detected in the sample collected from well, <br /> VW-6 TPH-g was detected at 5,800 micrograms liter(µg/1),the highest BTEX compounds <br /> were detected from well EW-3 with benzene at 240 µg/l, toluene at 30 µg/1, ethyl benzene <br /> at 170 µg11, and xylenes at 700 µg/1 <br /> • After a one month ground water remediation hiatus the following grab ground water sample <br /> were collected fiom the three extraction wells EW-1 TPH-g at 1,000 µg/1, benzene at 20 <br /> µg/l, toluene at 14 pg/l, ethylbenzene at 110 µg11, and xylenes at 150 gg/l, EW-2 TPH-g at <br /> 740 pg/l, benzene at 38 lig/l, toluene at 17 gg/l, ethylbenzene at 43 pg/l, and xylenes at <br /> 13 µg/l, EW-3 TPH-g at 6,100 µg/1,benzene at 1,100 µg/l, toluene at 80 µg/l, ethylbenzene ' <br /> at 880 µg/l, and xylenes at 1,900 lig/l <br /> • Then grab ground water samples were collected from the four extraction wells during <br /> pumping EW-1 TPH-g at 320 µg/1, benzene at 15 µg/l, toluene at 14 gg/l, ethylbenzene at <br /> 7 8 pg/l, and xylenes at 5 7 µVl,EW-2 TPH-g at 570 pg/l,benzene at 31 µg/1, toluene at 17 <br /> gg/l, ethylbenzene at 33 µg/l, and xylenes at 23 µg/1,EW-3 TPH-g at 5,300 pg/l,benzene at <br /> 1,400 }ig/l, toluene at 75 µg/l, ethylbenzene at 790'µg11, and xylenes at 900 gg/l, VW-6 <br /> TPH-g at 7,600 µg/l,benzene at 290 µ.g11,toluene at 20 µg/l, ethylbenzene at 190 µg11, and <br /> xylenes at 550 µg/1 <br /> Advanced CeoEnvironmentai,Inc <br />
