12 January 1998
• - AGE-NC-95-0103 -
- 1997 soil vapor samples were collected in Tedlar bags from the influent and effluent streams The
- samples were labeled, placed in a cool ice chest and transported under chain-of-custody to MAI
3.0. FINDINGS
3 1 RELATIVE GROUND WATER ELEVATION AND GRADIENT
-
The relative elevation of grodnd water in each well was calculated by subtracting the ground water
depth from the surveyed casing elevation relative to mean sea level (Table 1) The ground water
- elevation decreased approximately 0 7 feef between April and September 1997 The ground water
flow direction at the site was generally radially inward toward the northern portion of the property
underlying the parking area of the site (Figure 3)
3
32 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
TPII-g was detected in the'water_ samples from wells MW-1, MW-3, MW-4 and MW-5 at
concentrations of 2,800 parts per billion (ppb, reported as micrograms per liter), 6,800 ppb, 78,000
ppb and 1,000 ppb, respectively Benzene was detected in wells MW-I, MW-3 and MW-4 at
concentrations of 170 ppb, 150 ppb and 12,700 ppb, respectively Benzene was not detected in wells
MW-2, MW-5 and MW-6 Other BTE&X compounds were detected in these wells at concentrations
as High as 13,00Vppb (xylene, MW-4) Ethylbenzene and xylenes were detected in MW-3 at
` concentrations of 340 ppb and 330 ppb, respectively Petroleum hydrocarbons were not detected in
the samples collected from wells MW-2 and MW-6
A water sample collected from vapor extraction well VE-3 was also analyzed during the last quarter
TPH-g was detected in the water sample at a concentration of 5,400 ppb Benzene was detected at
120 ppb, toluene was detected at 93 ppb, ethylbenzene was detected at 150 and xylenes was detected
at 760 ppb
MTBE was detected only in the ground water samples collected from wells MW-1 and VE-3 at
- concentrations of 80 ppb and 34-ppb, respectively TBA was detected in ground water samples
collected from wells MW-1, MW-3 and VE-3 at concentrations of 93 ppb, 79 ppb and 260 ppb,
respectively DIPE was also detected in samples collected from wells MW-5 and VE-3 at
concentrations of 14 ppb and 15,ppb, respectively ETBE and TAME were not detected at the site
The analytical results of current and previous samples are summarized in Table 2 and Table 3 The
_ laboratory-report (MAI sample ID Nos 83733 through 83739) and chain-of-custody form are
= included in Appendix C
- - Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
