r-
` Mr Russell F Chapin, Sr
May 15, 1995
Page 5
It should be noted, however, that we do not recommend this procedure Careful
monitoring of the system inlet concentrations should allow reasonably accurate estimation of the
site status without un-necessary site disturbance by drilling and sampling operations
VERIFICATION SAMPLING
Verification sampling is proposed to consist of collection and analysis of samples from
drive-point sampling, a quick and cost-effective way of collecting undisturbed soil and
groundwater samples The method involves hydraulically pushing a 2-in probe to collect
samples The method also has the added advantage of producing no drill cuttings and minimizing
site disturbance We should be able to generate 8 to 12 or more penetrations within a day We
expect that this should be sufficient to evaluate subsurface conditions at the site
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Lush Geosciences and its Principal Geologist, Andrew Lush, has extensive experience
across a wide range of projects Relevant experience includes development of groundwater and
vadose-zone monitoring programs and mitigation of subsurface contamination for a wide variety
. of contaminated sites including service stations, landfills, refineries, bulk fuel storage plants,
agricultural sites, and industrial facilities, groundwater sampling and sample analyses for Solid
Waste Assessment Tests for landfills, and design of the groundwater monitoring system,
geologic and hydrologic characterization, and seismic assessments for the Kettleman Hills Class
I Chemical Waste Disposal Facility Our personnel are very familiar with the geologic setting of
the site through extensive work in the Bay Area and the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys
We are also familiar with the requirements for reimbursement by the State SB2004 fund for
underground storage tank cleanup work
The direct technical supervisor for this project will be Andrew Lush, President and
Principal Geologist, a California-Registered Geologist (RG 442 1) with more than 13 years of
experience as a professional geologist and hydrogeologist His work experience includes
delineation, monitoring, and mitigation of soil and groundwater contamination, hazard
assessment, and use of geophysical, geological, and well data to create structural geologic
models His work has included design, construction, development, and sampling of monitoring
wells and monitoring systems at a wide variety of commercial and industrial facilities and
preparation and presentation of contamination assessment and mitigation reports for
contaminated sites for SWAT tests at landfills Mr Lush will be responsible for overall project
•
4058-PZ
LUSH GI=OSCIENCES
