CHAPIN BROTHERS, INC.
May 25, 1995
Page 3
• Project Meetings and Administrative Activities $490
* System Startup & Compliance Sampling $600
• laboratory Analysis $150
• Construction Management $750
• Mileage $312
• System Startup $600
• Emission Verification Report
Subtotal $29,192
Before beginning work, we will review previous site investigative reports and other available
information regarding the site, conduct a site visit to measure current depth to water levels,
evaluate well and treatment enclosure locations, physical constraints, and site limitations. We
will prepare a work plan for submittal to SJEHD. The work plan will present background
information for the site, propose the method and equipment needed to perform drilling of the air
sparging well and the installation of the vapor extraction and air sparging systems.
We will obtain a well permit from SJE14D for the installation of the air sparging well. We will
also obtain a building permit from the City of Stockton Building Department for the construction
and installation of the vapor extraction system, as well as an Authority to Construct and a Permit
to Operate a soil vapor extraction system from the SIViJAPCD.
A soil vapor extraction system will be designed and constructed to treat soil contaminated with
petroleum hydrocarbons beneath the site. The vapor extraction system will include a six-cylinder
Vaclean Model 1000, 6-cylinder trailer-mounted internal combustion engine and underground
piping. The internal combustion engine is rated for 125 standard cubic feet per minute (scfni)
and up to fourteen inches of mercury. Soil vapors will be destroyed using the engine's two in-
line, auto type, 3-way catalytic convemrs. The engine uses natural gas of propane as
supplemental fuel.
An air sparging system will be designed and constructed to treat ground water contaminated with
petroleum hydrocarbons beneath the site. The air sparging system will include an EG & G
Rotron EN 404 explosion proof regenerative blower. The blower is rated at 1 horse power and
has a maximum flow rate of 107 scfm and maximum pressure of 57-inches of water gauge (WG).
One air sparging well will be installed to a depth of 40 feet below surface grade. The air
sparging well will be connected to the air sparging blower via Underground piping. Two passive
product skimmers will 5e installed in MW1 and MW4 to remove free product from the ground
!
