Then bentonite pellets will be placed on
top of the sand to a thickness of 1 foot. cement grout will then
be pumped into the annular space to within 1 foot of the surface
grade. A traffic-rated street box will be installed over the
well, and a locking cap attached to the top of the casing.
The 75-foot-deep boring will be used to install a 2-inch PVC
monitoring well screened from approximately 65 to 75 feet below
grade (the exact interval will be determined in the field) . This
well will be located adjacent to another well screened as
described above; groundwater elevation data from these two wells
will help determine the existence of any vertical groundwater
gradient.
One boring will be drilled with lo.5-inch O.D. hollow-stem
augers, and constructed with 4-inch PVC continuous-wrap screen.
The construction and installation details will be similar to the
i
design for the other 50-foot-deep wells. This 4-inch well will
be used in a baildown test to analyze aquifer characteristics.
The newly installed wells will be developed, monitored,
purged, and sampled as described on page 22 cf the revised PR.
After one complete round of sampling, a regular groundwater
sampling program will be developed in conjunction with the
remediation plan for the site. (Because MW-1 through IN-4 are so
close to one another, only one of these wells will be Zampled•
Also, no wells containing free product will be samples:. )
10
-` GROUNDWATER
Tv-ciINOLOG1.L`c.
