The Regulatory Closure of the Facility <br />The regulatory closure process mandates the facility to obtain approval before implementing <br />its closure plan. These regulations also mandate the regulatory agencies to provide opportunity for <br />public involvement bef re approving the closure plan. The facility must meet the closure <br />performance standards of federal and state regulations by removing, decontaminating or encapsulating <br />any hazardous waste o site that could affect human health or the environment. Physics International <br />Company submitted its last version of its closure plan to DTSC on August 20, 1992. The closure <br />plan for Physics Intern tional Company includes a description of the facility, its operations, the <br />chemicals handled, the hazardous wastes produced and how they were handled, a soil sampling plan, <br />and a schedule of tasks necessary to certify closure. <br />V.
