1 2 3 Installation of Three Monitonng Wells
On March 23, 2001, Ramage Environmental published Monitoring WellInstallation Report, which
documented the installation of three on-site groundwater table monitoring wells
The static depth to the groundwater table, as measured in the three groundwater monitoring wells,
' ranged from 18 47 to 18 56 feet bgs The resulting groundwater surface appeared as a regular
plane dipping to the west-northwest at a gradient of approximately 0 0013 foot/foot
' Soil and groundwater beneath the site were found to be impacted by diesel and gasoline
hydrocarbons, in relatively equal proportion Concentrations of benzene were not present or
' significant in soil and were relatively low in groundwater Except for a couple of trace detectable
concentrations, MTBE, DIPE, ETBE, TAME, TBA and 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) were not
present in soil or groundwater The soil sample analytical results are summarized in Table 1, and
' the groundwater analytical results are summarized in Table 2
' 1 2 4 Sensitive Receptor Survey
On June 5, 2001, Ramage Environmental published Sensitive Receptor Survey and Groundwater
Monitoring Report, First Quarter 2001 For the site vicinity, no water well completion reports were
found at DWR However, further research identified three operating water supply wells within the
' site vicinity Two of these wells are operated by the city of Manteca for drinking water supply, and
the other is operated by Manteca High School for all campus uses
' According to the City of Manteca Department of Public Works, the city provides water service
throughout the site vicinity The city operates 15 water supply wells throughout the city, including
' two within the site vicinity The city well #19 is located near the corner of Powers Avenue and
Marin Street, approximately 1,700 feet west of the site, and the city well #5 and water tower are
located approximately 1,900 feet northwest of the site
The nearest school to the site is Manteca High School approximately 500 feet to the north The
' school campus occupies most of the northeast quadrant of the site vicinity According to Mr
Chuck Christian, the head custodian, the school supplies all of its own water from a single water
well located near the northeast comer of the Agriculture Building, approximately 1,000 feet
' northeast of the site This well was located during the survey and was found to be operational
Well construction details were not available
• 7
