10 January 2001 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 98-0521 <br /> Page 3 of 7 _ <br /> I <br /> The monitoring well was designed with a 0 02-mch slotted screen installed from depths of <br /> approximately 5 to 20 feet bsg and with blank casing extending to the surface A falter pack of#2112 <br /> Lonestar sand was installed from 4 to 20 feet bsg Bentonite chips were used to create a one-foot <br /> transition seal above the sand pack The remaining annular space was backfilled to within six inches <br /> of surface grade with portland cement A traffic-rated well box (8-inch diameter) was installed over <br /> _ each well, in accordance with San Joaquin County regulations Monitoring well design specifications <br /> are depicted on the^boring logs to Appendix A- <br /> On 16 October 2000, well MW-4 was developed in order to increase water flow into the well and <br /> to minimize the-amount of fine-grained sediment drawn into the well during purging and sampling <br /> 3 3 GROUND WATER MONITORING ACTIVITIES <br /> On 07 September 2000, ground water monitoring activities were performed at the site The <br /> ' monitoring activities included the measurement of depths to the ground water surface within wells <br /> and collection of ground water samples from the three monitoring wells <br /> The water level in monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-3 were measured relative to the tops of the <br /> well casings using a Solinst water level meter After water levels were measured, a two-stage <br /> submersible pump was used to purge each well Ten gallons (a minimum of three well volumes) of <br /> ' - water were removed from wells MW-1 and MW-3 and twenty-seven gallons of water were removed <br /> from well MW-2 <br /> ' -On 20 October 2000, one ground water monitoring well was sampled The sampling activities <br /> included the measurement of ground water levels and collection of ground water samples from the <br /> newly installed monitoring well MW-4 <br /> The water level in monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-4 was measured relative to the tops of the <br /> ' well casings using a Solinst water level meter After the water levels were measured, a two-stage r <br /> submersible pump was used to purge only well MW-4 Six gallons(a minimum of three casing-water <br /> volumes) of water were removed from well MW-4 <br /> t - - Temperature, pH and conductivity of the purged water were measured at two-gallon intervals for <br /> MW-1, MW-3 and MW-4 and nine-gallon intervals for MW-2 Temperature, pH and conductivity <br /> ' of the purged water was measured using an ICM water analyzer (Appendix B) Purged water was <br /> stored on-site in 55-gallon, DOT-approved drums <br /> - t Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc <br /> Tr - , <br />
