10 January 2001 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 98-0521 <br /> ' Page 4 of 7 - <br /> 3 3 COLLECTION OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES <br /> Prior to collection of ground water-samples, the depth to ground water was again measured in each <br /> well to ensure that a minimum of 80% of the well volume had recharged Water samples were <br /> collected from each well using a new disposable plastic bailer and were transferred into three chilled <br /> 40-m1 volatile organic analysis (VOA)vials containing 0 5 ml hydrochloric acid (18%) as a sample <br /> preservative The samples were then labeled and placed in a chilled container for transportation <br /> under chain-of-custody to MAI <br /> _ 3 4 WELL ELEVATION SURVEYING <br /> ' - The casing elevation of monitoring well MW-4 was surveyed relative to well MW-I to the nearest <br /> - 0 01 foot on 07 November 2000 by representatives of AGE <br /> ' 3 5 SOIL AND GROUND WATER ANALYSIS <br /> All ground water samples and two soil samples were analyzed for the following <br /> • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g ) in accordance with EPA <br /> ' Method 8015 Modified,' <br /> • Volatile aromatic hydrocarbons - benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene and total xylene (BTEX) - <br /> in accordance with EPA-methods 8020, <br /> • Oxygenated compounds - di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), <br /> ' methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME), tertiary butanol <br /> (TBA), ethylene dibromide (EDB) and 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) in accordance with <br /> EPA Method 8260 <br /> ' One ground water sample was analyzed for methanol and ethanol in accordance with EPA <br /> Method 8260 <br /> 40 FINDINGS _ <br /> Trace concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons were detected by laboratory analysis in soil samples _ <br /> collected from the former UST area and significant dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons were detected <br /> in the ground water samples collected from within the former UST area <br /> • - Advanced CeoEw ironmental,Inc <br />
