SOP-SG-1 <br />SOIL GAS WELL SAMPLING VVE-T <br />STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE LniroaraenwlserriceLInhnolog <br />1.0 PRE-FIELD ACTIVITIES <br />Prior to conducting sampling, the following pre-field activities will be conducted. <br />1.1 PERSONNEL QUALIFICATIONS AND HEALTH AND SAFETY <br />All field samplers working at sites containing hazardous waste will meet the requirements of the <br />Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. This may include the <br />sampler being 40 -hour HAZWOPER trained and 8 -hour HAZWOPER refresher trained in <br />accordance with federal OSHA regulation 29 CFR 1910.120. Field samplers will also be trained <br />in the use of the sampling equipment either prior to use of the equipment or onsite during the <br />sampling by trained sampler. The sampling team will read, and be familiar with the site Health <br />and Safety Plan and relevant standard operating procedures (SOPS). <br />1.1.1 Health and Safety Equipment <br />For safety purposes, a reflective safety vest, steel -toed shoes and disposable nitrile gloves will be <br />worn during sampling activities. Refer to the Health and Safety Plan for the site-specific <br />personnel protective equipment and job hazards. The gloves will be changed between sampling <br />locations. <br />1.1.1.1 PHOTOIONIZATION DETECTOR <br />Total organic vapors will be monitored using a photoionization detector (PID) equipped with a <br />10.6 electron volt (eV) lamp and calibrated to 100 parts per million by volume (ppm) using <br />isobutylene gas. <br />1 <br />
