Windshields, rear-view mirrors, and lights should be kept clean. <br /> Based upon the size of the vehicle, or if specific quantities of hazardous materials are <br /> transported, the driver may be required to hold a Commercial Drivers License. If in doubt <br /> consult with the Shipping Department or Corporate Health and Safety. <br /> Transporting Personnel <br /> The SHSC will ensure that seat belts are installed and functional on all vehicles used by <br /> Weston personnel and Weston subcontractors, and that all passengers use them. The use <br /> of seat belts by all personnel is mandatory. <br /> Some convenient means of mounting and dismounting the truck should be provided. <br /> Personnel should be required to ride within the space provided, never on running boards, <br /> fenders, bumpers, or atop cabs. <br /> Adequate wind protection should be provided for long distance trips, and during cold <br /> weather. <br /> Personnel are not allowed to ride on the outside or back (such as in pickup trucks) of <br /> vehicles. <br /> Transorting Materials <br /> Materials loaded should be within the safe weight limit for the truck, and should not project <br /> beyond the truck body. <br /> While being loaded, trucks should be properly blocked. <br /> Trucks operated on public highways should conform to weight and clearance limitations of <br /> bridges, powerlines, overhead structures, and other restrictions. <br /> No person should be permitted to remain in or on a truck being loaded by excavating <br /> equipment or cranes unless the cab is adequately protected against impact <br /> Pedestrian Protection Program <br /> Pedestrians on-site should use discretion when crossing the streets or working near traffic. <br /> Pedestrians should use sidewalks whenever possible and not step from curbs unless vehicles <br /> are at a safe distance. <br /> Vehicle Maintenance <br /> Operators should immediately report any damage or failure of parts and accessories to the <br /> 2.477 <br />
