March 28, 1995
92-1177102.34
NORCAL Waste Systems, Inc.
Attention: - Mi. Larry.Sweetser, Director of-Regulatory- Affairs
Subject: STATUS REPORT - Soil and Groundwater Remedial Activities-
Stockton Scavenger Association: Facility
1240 Navy Drive
Stockton, California
i
Page-2
The-groundwater treatment system consisted of a smgl`e groundwater extraction pump
installed in well- MW-2.. The groundwater is pumped by the extraction pump. to a treatment
system-.consisting of.a-particulate filter:and two stages of activated carbon The particulate filter
removes solids which- would otherwise become trapped in the carbon absorbers, potentially
shortening carbon life Two stages of activated arbon absorbers provide the necessary removal
of-TPHs and'-BTEX. After passing through the activated carbon, the water is discharged into
the-sewer- system.
A sum-maty of groundwater analytical results is- presented in Table 1. Graphical
concentration plots for constituents of-concern--in-monitoring wells MW-2 and MW-3 are shown
ort-Figure 1 through= 4. Concentration plots for constituents of concern=in monitoring wells
MW-I and MW-4 were not,_prepared because only_ a few-, detections were identified.
_- Isoconce-ntmtion plots illustrating the distrubution of constitents. of concern are shown on
Drawings 3 through S. As shown on these illustrations, petroleum--hydrocarbons detected in the
groundwater are limited to the-area around monitoring-well MW-2.
Based -upon the findings to date and the existing; site conditions, MARK recommends
NORCAL seek site--closure with respect to soil and groundwater -conditions-. Further soil and
groundwater- investigation of remediation is neither warranted nor recommendedw at this time.
MARK appreciates this opportunity to be of continued service to NORCAL Waste
! _ - Systems, Inc. If you-have-.any questions, please call Mr. Robert S. Spare, Project Manager, or
the=undersignedat (510) 946 1055.
Sincerely,
Th- MARK Group, Inc.
Alan D.
