r <br /> 9 0 DECONTAMINATION <br /> For projects involving hazardous or toxic chemicals and/or materials, procedures for <br /> decontaminating personnel, personal protective equipment, tools and machinery shall be <br /> established by the Site-specific Health and Safety Plan When the Site-specific Health and <br /> Safety Plan requires a decontamination area or unit to be established, it shall be set up in <br /> a demarcated area within the Contamination-reduction Area (see Section 8 4 2) <br /> The safe working procedures for the decontamination area and procedures for <br /> management of contaminated clothing, equipment, tools or machinery shall be established <br /> by the Site-specific Health and Safety Plan, and shall include the following requirements as <br /> appropriate <br /> e A clean, step-off area shall be established dust inside the Hazard-barrier Area, <br />,ie ■ All persons entering or leaving the Hazard-barrier Area shall pass through the <br /> Decontamination Area to don or doff their protective equipment, <br /> ■ Persons entering the Hazard-barrier Area from the Clean Area shall be equipped <br /> with disposal boot covers, <br />' 0 Contaminated protective equipment shall not be removed from the <br /> Decontamination Area until it has been cleaned and properly packaged and <br /> labeled, <br /> ■ Personnel shall not be permuted to exit the Decontamination Area until <br /> contaminated clothing and equipment have been removed and employees have <br /> washed their hands and face with soap and water, <br /> ■ Removal of materials from protective clothing or equipment by blowing, shaking, <br /> or any other means which may disperse materials into the air is prohibited, <br /> ■ Portable or fixed emergency shower and eyewash station(s) shall be strategically <br /> located in the Decontamination Area wherever there is a hazard to the skin or <br /> eyes or risk of absorption of toxic materials through the skin, <br /> ■ A deluge shower or hose and nozzle shall be available in the Decontamination <br /> Area to wash down heavily contaminated personnel before doffing protective <br /> clothing, <br /> r <br /> 9-1 REV 4192-EGI <br /> Mrs <br />
