10 0 SAFE WORK PRACTICES <br /> All work shall be performed in a safe manner according to established procedures and <br /> in compliance with all applicable manufacturer's instructions, equipment operating <br /> instructions, equipment safety instructions, the Site-specific Health and Safety Plan (including <br /> this Master Health and Safety Plan), applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations and <br /> guidelines, and contractual conditions <br /> The following subsections address the requirements for safe working as they relate to <br /> several operations commonly encountered in construction and remediation work The <br /> subjects addressed do not constitute an exhaustive list Any hazardous procedure not <br /> specifically addressed in this section or elsewhere in this Plan shall be addressed in the Site- <br /> specific Health and Safety Plan, or, if not anticipated in the latter, it should be the subject <br /> of case-by-case directives by the Project Safety Officer <br /> 101 Confined Space EntrX <br /> 1011 Definition <br /> Confined spaces include storage tanks, bins, sewers, in-ground vaults, degreasers, <br /> boilers, vessels, trenches, shafts, tunnels, manholes, pits, or any enclosed or partially enclosed <br /> space that <br /> ■ is large enough and laid out in such a way that a worker could enter and perform <br /> work, <br /> ■ has limited means of entry and exit (e g , a storage bin, hopper, vault, pit, or <br /> diked area), <br /> ■ is not designed for continuous occupancy by the worker, and <br /> ■ has one or more of the following characteristics <br /> i <br /> 10-1 REV 4/92-EGf <br /> NMI <br /> i <br />
