►� 10 4 2 Work Around Overhead Conductors <br /> All overhead electrical conductors or other cables, wires, or obstructions shall be <br />. y <br /> carefully noted before work begins on a project site Ther locations shall be pointed out <br /> during Tailgate Safety Meetings Cranes, drilling rigs, piledrivers, earth moving equipment, <br /> 4 or any other equipment that could come in contact with, or could approach close to, such <br /> overhead lines shall not be operated within thirty feet of the lines except as specifically <br /> directed by the Project Safety Officer following an evaluation of the hazards involved and <br /> prescription of rules by which the work can be safety performed <br /> If there is any doubt that work in close proximity to overhead electrical lines can be <br /> performed safely, power to the lines must be cut off for the duration of the work <br /> 10 4 3 Excavation Around Buried Electrical Cables <br /> Safety rules for excavation around buried electrical cables are specified in Section <br /> 5 <br /> 1052 <br /> �1 <br /> 105 Excavation and TrenchLag <br /> The following minimum safety standards shall apply to excavation and trenching <br /> 105 1 Excavation Work and Shoring <br /> `l ■ All excavation, trenching, shoring and backfilhng will be in accordance with the <br /> ! prescriptive requirements of 29 CFR 1926, Subpart P Shoring, as a minimum, <br /> will meet the requirements of Table P-2 of 29 CFR 1926 Subpart P Variations <br /> from the prescriptive requirements of 29 CFR 1926 will be permitted only when <br /> shoring or benching and/or sloping of the excavation is constructed according to <br /> the recommendations of a Registered Civil Engineer <br /> ■ To avoid collapse of the walls of excavations during inclement weather, trenches <br /> and pits shall be excavated so that, insofar as practicable, the surrounding area <br /> r <br /> drains surface water away from the excavation If surface water drainage flows <br /> . onto or through the area to be excavated, it shall be diverted so as to avoid risk <br /> 10-9 REV 4192-EGI <br /> 1 <br />
