SECOR
10.0 PURGE WATER DISPOSAL
Purge water was transported from a truck-mounted polyurethane tank on the sampling truck to a
holding tank for temporary storage. Following the conclusion of the quarterly monitoring and
sampling event, the purge water was pummped through a treatment system consisting of two
carbon vessels at the Tesoro Terminal. D iring treatment, mid-point and effluent samples were
collected, and the treated water was temporarily stored in a secondary polyurethane tank
pending receipt of analytical results. The midpoint sample will be analyzed for TPHg, BTEX,
and MTBE by EPA Method 8260B. Thee fluent sample will be analyzed for TPHg, BTEX, and
MTBE by EPA Method 82606; total recoverable petroleum hydrocarbons (EPA Method 1664);
and pH (EPA Method 150.1). After it is known that the effluent sample results are in compliance
with waste water discharge permit requirements as stated in the City of Stockton self-monitoring
sample program, the purge water is discharged into the City of Stockton sanitary sewer system.
The flow totalizer and lower explosive limit (LEL) meter operate continuously during discharge,
and measurements were recorded at 30-minute intervals. Upon completion of discharge, a
separate report is submitted to the Department of Stockton Utilities, documenting the waste
water discharge event.
The remainder of the fourth quarter purge water was treated and discharged during the first
• quarter 2006. First quarter purge water will be treated and discharged during the second
quarter 2006.
•
STTC IQ06 Final Report 21 May 1,2006
770T.43673.12.0002
