The MNA Report discusses remedial options previously evaluated at the
site and describes the micropurge sampling technique used to sample monitoring wells along
with analytical parameters to evaluate whether biodegradation of contaminants is occurring at the
site. The Release Report describes the 7 December 2002 release of petroleum hydrocarbons
from a pipe valve in the manifold area and the excavation and sampling activities that occurred
as a result of the release.
We have no comments on the Annual Report, and we discussed our comments on the NINA
Report during a 20 March 2003 meeting with LFR representatives Mr. Scott Seyfried and
Mr. Scott Armstrong. Those comments regarded the delineation of the pollution plume, plume
stability, and field measured parameters versus laboratory measured parameters. During the
meeting, Regional Board staff stated that additional monitoring wells are needed to delineate the
plume,to support conclusions in the MNA Report, and to monitor any proposed remedial
activities.
California Environmental Protection Agency
Q%Recycled Paper
The energy challenge facing California is real.
