7 <br /> Limited Soil Investigation Report - August 1997 <br /> Former STEELGARD PROPERTY <br /> 15700 McKinley Avenue, Lathrop, California <br /> 1.0. INTRODUCTION <br /> In accordance with your request, Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc., (AGE) has prepared the <br /> enclosed Limited Soil Investigation Report for the Former STEELGARD PROPERTY at 15700 <br /> McKinley Avenue, Lathrop, California(the site). The objective of this work was to assess the soil <br /> in the vicinity of a clarifier and an evaporative pond for presence of petroleum hydrocarbons with <br /> a scope of work that included establishment of eight exploratory soil borings;collection and analysis <br /> of soil samples and preparation of this report.The location of the site with respect to its surroundings <br /> is illustrated in Figure 1 -Location Map. Buildings and boring locations on the site are illustrated <br /> in Figure 2 -Site Plan. <br /> This scope of work was performed in accordance with San Joaquin County Public Health Services - <br /> Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) and Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control <br /> Board guidelines for the investigation of underground storage tank(UST) sites. <br /> 2.0. BACKGROUND <br /> 2.1 SITE LOCATION <br /> The site is located in an industrial area of Lathrop at 15700 McKinley Avenue, at an elevation of <br /> approximately 20 feet above sea level. A school-building fabrication facility currently occupies the <br /> facility. Significant features on the property are illustrated in Figure 2 -Site Plan. <br /> 2.2. SITE RECONNAISSANCE <br /> On 11 December 1996, representatives of AGE performed a site reconnaissance of the property to <br /> locate apparent environmental concerns. The following areas of environmental concern were noted <br /> during the site visit: <br /> • A storm water retention pond is located along the eastern portion of the property. <br /> • A small evaporation pond is located west of the repair shop. The evaporation pond is <br /> approximately 75 feet in length, 50 feet in width and 5 feet in depth. The pond is plastic <br /> lined; however vegetation was growing through the liner in several areas. <br /> • A three-stage clarifier is located between the evaporation pond and the repair shop. The <br /> clarifier apparently drains into a small canal located along the northern property boundary. <br /> During the site visit, one lid of the clarifier was removed; the clarifier was filled to the top <br />
