kn KLEINFELDER
File No. 20-3941-0LEO 1
April 11, 1996
Three(3) of the borings would be advanced to a minimum depth of 25 feet bsg. Those borings would
be located at the following location:
1. EZ Gas Mini-Mart
1405 Main Street
APN 227-062-04
(the three borings would be located at each of the three corners of this triangularly shaped
property)
Soil samples will be collected in every boring at depths of 2 feet bsg and at five foot intervals starting at
a depth of 5 feet bsg for lithologic classification and quantitative field screening. Lithologic
classification will be based on the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS). Additionally, soil
samples will be obtained for field screening with an organic vapor analyzer (OVA). The OVA
measures ionizable compounds in air in parts per million by volume (ppmv). Currently, based on the
San Joaquin County Flood Control and Water Conservation District Report for Fall 1994, the depth to
groundwater at the project site area is 65 to 70 feet bsg. The same report shows that the regional
groundwater flow direction is towards the northwest.
Task E03-Chemical Analysis
At this time we propose to analyze only two soil samples from the twenty-three 10 foot borings.
Additionally, at this time we propose to analyze only three soil samples from the three 25 foot borings.
In all of the borings the two bottom samples will be analyzed. Additional soil samples will be analyzed
based on the results of visual observations and field screening, following obtaining specific
authorization from the City of Escalon. Therefore, at this time, we propose to analyze a total of fifty-
five(55) soil samples.
After collection, the soil samples will be labeled, logged on a chain-of-custody, and immediately stored
in an iced cooler. The 55 soil samples will be submitted to a State certified laboratory and analyzed for
the following analyses:
• Benzene, Toluene,Ethylbenzene, Xylenes (BTEX)by EPA Method 8020/5 03 0
• Total Purgeable Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Referenced to Gasoline in the C6 to C12 carbon
range (TPH-G)by EPA Method 801 SM/5030
• Total Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons in the CB to C25 carbon range(TPH-E)by EPA
Method 8015NV3550
20-3941-O1.E01/MP960042 Page No..8 of 12 Copyright 1996,Kleinjelder,Inc.
