April 2015
AGE Project No. 15-3394
Soil and soil-vapor samples will be submitted to a California Department of Public
Health (CDPH)-Certified laboratory and analyzed for volatile organic compounds
(VOC's) by EPA Method 8260B.
Upon completion of the field work and receipt of laboratory analysis, a brief report will
be prepared. The report will be reviewed and signed by a California Professional
Geologist.
PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES
Applicable drilling permits will be obtained from the SJCEHD and a site-specific Health
and Safety Plan will be prepared. Prior to mobilization, each soil boring location will be
clearly marked and a utility clearance obtained through Underground Service Alert. The
SJCEHD will be contacted a minimum of five days prior to conducting investigation
activities to arrange for inspection.
FIELD PROCEDURES
All field procedures will be overseen by an AGE representative working under the
supervision of a California Professional Geologist. Procedures for sample collection and
analysis, equipment decontamination and sample handling are presented below.
SOIL SAMPLING
Soil samples will be collected from the borings proposed to 15 feet bsg at discrete five-
foot intervals using a 1.45-inch soil sampling assembly loaded with one two-foot long
acetate liner. A selected section of the liner will be cut, capped with Teflon sheets and
preserved, then placed on ice. Thereafter, soil encountered in the boring will be visually
classified by an AGE geologist or environmental scientist in accordance with the Unified
Soil Classification System (USCS). Additionally, soil sample duplicates will be field-
screened for the presence of volatile organic compounds using an organic vapor meter
(OVM), equipped with photo-ionization detector (PID).
Selected soil samples will be transported to Cal-Tech Environmental Laboratories of
Paramount, California and analyzed for VOC's by EPA Method 8260B.
Advanced GeoEn ironmental.Inc.
