Levine-Fricke-Recon • • r
DRAFT ,
can provide historical drawings of buildings and possible well locations, are not
available for this property.
• A well potentially located at 6508 Alturas Avenue, approximately 2,300 feet
downgradient from Lincoln Center, was identified on a sanitation permit for
installation of a septic system in 1965. The permit indicated that the distance from
the septic system to the nearest well was 50 feet. The permit also indicated that the
water supply for the residence was from a private source — further indication that
a well may have been located at this property. The current property owners are
Gilbert and Toni Mata. (LFR is trying to contact the current property owner to
inquire about this possible well.)
• A well located at 6408 North El Dorado Street, approximately 3,300 feet
downgradient from Lincoln Center, was identified on a Water Well Drillers Report
reviewed at the DWR. The date of the report was not specified. The current
property owner is Louise Cantele. (LFR is trying to contact the current property
owner to inquire about this possible well.)
3.1.2 Municipal Supply Wells
Seventeen municipal supply wells have been identified in the Study Area (Table 2 and
Figure 4). These wells are owned by (1) SJC DPW, including LVMD and Colonial
Heights Maintenance District (CHMD), (2) COS DMU, and (3) CWS. Five LVMD
wells located in the Study Area have been abandoned. LVMD #3 was located
approximately one half mile west of Lincoln Center (Figure 4). An evaluation of
procedures used to abandon wells LVMD #1, LVMD #2, LVMD #4, and LVMD#6,
formerly located immediately west of Lincoln Center, is discussed in Section 3.4 of
this report. The status of well CHMD #1, located in the northwestern portion of the
Study Area, is unknown. (SJC DPW requested that LFR contact SJC Counsel
regarding the status of LVMD and CHMD wells. SJC Counsel has not responded to
our inquiries. We are still trying to obtain additional information about this well.)
One abandoned and five inactive municipal supply wells located in the Study Area are
owned by COS. There currently are no active COS municipal supply wells in the Study
Area (Table 2; SJC PHS/EHD 1996a). According to representatives for COS DMU,
COS provides water to customers in the Study Area from surface water provided by
the Stockton-East Water District, which is supplemented with municipal water pumped
from wells located east of the Study Area.
CWS owns two abandoned, two inactive, and one active well in the Study Area.
According to representatives from CWS, wells CWS #56 and CWS #57 have been
inactive for several years. Well CWS #61, located southeast of Lincoln Center on
Swain Road, pumps approximately 1,600 gallons per minute. This well has been
inactive since September 1996, when the pump was removed for repair. When active,
water from well CWS #61 is distributed throughout the Stockton area, including in the
Study Area.
Page 8
4111 WELL.AMI:AM1
