Levine•Fricke•Recon
ENGINEERS,HYDROGEOLOGISTS S APPLIED SCIENTISTS
• Indoor air samples were collected from the vacant space north of Trader Joe's at Lincoln
Center on July 16, 1998. Sample results will be used to evaluate potential health risks, if any,
associated with possible exposure to certain Hazardous Substances detected in indoor air
samples. (Analytical results were forwarded to the RWQCB and LPL.)
• Access negotiations continued with private property owners and their tenants for permission to
conduct Remedial Investigation activities on nearby properties.
• Phase I Interim Remedial Action (IRA) conveyance pipeline installation, treatment unit
construction, and temporary storage area (TSA) construction began on May 22, 1998. (The
TSA was completed on August 1, 1998.) The Phase I IRA groundwater extraction and
treatment unit will be completed in September 1998.
Data Collection and Field Activities Anticipated for August and September 1998
The following data collection and field activities are planned at the Site during the next bimonthly
period:
• Quarterly fluid levels will be measured and groundwater samples will be collected in August
1998. Groundwater elevation data and analytical results of these samples will be presented in
the third quarter 1998 groundwater monitoring report to be submitted to the RWQCB in
November 1998 (Figure 1).
• Shallow and deep soil-vapor samples will be collected near the intersection of West Benjamin
Holt Drive and Gettysburg Place in August as part of the Source Area Investigation (Figure 1).
• A- and B-zone monitoring wells will be installed at downgradient locations on Inglewood
Avenue in August as part of Plume Perimeter Investigation (Locations 8, 9, and 10 on
Figure 1).
• Phase I IRA off-site piezometer installation and conveyance pipeline and treatment system
construction will continue through August.
• Dedicated purge pump equipment will be installed in B- and C-zone wells in August.
Cone penetration testing/push-in polyvinyl chloride piezometer (CPT/PIPP) borings will be
advanced in September as part of the additional Plume Perimeter Investigation (Locations 12
through 16 on Figure 1).
• Soil borings will be advanced to collect soil samples and an A-zone monitoring well will be
installed at Lincoln Center in September as part of the Source Area Investigation.
• Newly installed A- and B-zone monitoring wells and Phase I IRA off-site piezometers will be
developed and sampled in September.
bimonthly-Aug98-0411 I.doc:SRL 2
