Levine-Fricke-Recon
ENGINEERS,M MOGEO JSTS 6 AP UeO SCIENTISTS
plan). Weeks Drilling and Pump Company will install the groundwater extraction wells using
the mud-rotary drilling method. Field equipment for the extraction well installations will consist
of a mud-rotary drilling rig, shaker trailer, and support vehicles. The work space will be
cordoned off during the drilling period to prohibit access by unauthorized personnel.
Well GEW-007A
Construction of well GEW-007A will begin with sawcutting a 24-inch-square hole in the concrete
pavement adjacent to the small planter as shown in Figure 1. Based on the remodeled
configuration of the Subject Property, it appears that the most northern of the two driveways along
Pacific Avenue will be partially blocked by the drilling rig during construction of this well. Once
the well is constructed, the well casing will be covered with a 12-inch-diameter well box installed
at grade with a bolt-down cover and the remainder of the 24-inch-square hole will be resurfaced
with concrete or cold patch asphalt. The well box will be replaced subsequently during trenching
activities in step two.
Well GEW-008A
Well GEW-008A will be constructed within the corner planter as shown in Figure 1. We
anticipate that at least one bush or shrub will need to be removed and transplanted to provide room
for the well. Once the well is constructed, the well casing will be covered with a 12-inch-diameter
well box with a bolt-down cover installed several inches above grade to avoid flooding from
irrigation. This well box will also be replaced subsequently during trenching activities in step two.
While all efforts will be made to minimize damage to the plants in the planter during drilling,
there is a possibility that the groundeover plants may be damaged. Considering that additional
excavation for the utility trench will take place soon after the well is installed, we propose to
refurbish the planter box after all construction activities have been completed.
Before conducting these intrusive field activities, buried utilities that are present in the vicinity of
Elie wells will be located and discretely marked on the ground with paint to prevent any contact
with utilities during installation The active work space required during the night at each location
is approximately 30 feet by 60 feet, as shown on Figure 2. The work area for each drilling
location will be covered with a large, single sheet of visquene plastic to keep the area as clean as
possible.
Drilling will be performed only during nighttime hours, defined as between 8:00 p.m. and 7:00
a.m. At the end of each work shift, any waste materials or debris generated during field activities
will be removed, extra vehicles driven off site, and the work area compressed as much as
possible. At a minimum, tate drill rig, shaker trailer, and a small mud pit will need to remain setup
on site until each well is completed. The estimated work spaces for active and inactive work
periods are shown in Figure 2. The proposed timing and schedule for well construction is
presented below.
LIIAccm-Chcvwmrm.d-0371 I:SRL 2
STO/C001A 'y'5'] KOHAaH3 OLcs zb9 OTSQ U:96 961LZ/30
