Levine-Fricke-Recon
CN NEEFS.NVDPO MOGiSTS A APPLIED SCIENTSTS
Once the entire extraction and treatment system installation has been completed, LFR will require
access to the two wells to test the in-well equipment, controls, and pumps.
SOIL MANAGEMENT
Based on our observations during the recent reconstruction, we are assuming that Chevron's
contractor has replaced the upper two to three feet of soil with base rock. During excavation for
trenching, the excavated material will be sorted to separate recently placed base rock from any
remaining native soil. The base rock will be neatly stockpiled along the edge of trench in a low
berm and covered with weighted plastic sheeting. Any excavated soil will be placed in a small bin
to be located in the northeast corner of the Subject Property. Once all soil has been excavated, a
representative composite sample will he collected from the bin and submitted to Sequoia
Analytical Laboratory. Pursuant Mr. Hunter's request, the sample will be analyzed for total
petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline using EPA Method 8015; benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and
total xylenes using EPA Method 8020; and methyl tertiary butyl ether using EPA Method 8260. A
composite sample will be collected by combining four individual samples. If laboratory results
indicate that no detectable concentrations of chemicals are present in the soil, LFR will arrange
for disposal of the soil in a Class III landfill. If petroleum-based chemicals are detected, Chevron
has indicated that it will arrange for disposal of such soil.
FIELD PERSONNEL
Mr- Donald T. Bradshaw, R.G., Site Project Manager, oversees all aspects of the construction at
the Lincoln Center site and can be contacted at (510) 596-9559. Mr. Chris Alger, Senior
Engineering Geologist, is responsible for supervising the field personnel conducting Phase I IRA
tasks and can be contacted at (510) 596-9683. Representatives of Lincoln Properties, Ltd. may
occasionally be in attendance to oversee field activities.
SCHEDULE
Our construction schedule will begin with the installation of the two extraction wells beginning the
week of May 18, 1998. The extraction wells will likely be installed in two consecutive weeks. We
will notify you by fax and telephone at least 48 hours before the start of this work. The active
portion of the work will be conducted at night to minimize impact to the station operations
between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. The drilling rig will not be left on site over the
weekend, however, as described above, the drilling rig will need to remain in place during the
daytime hours during the week. We will provide a security guard to patrol the area and keep
unauthorized persons from entering the exclusion zone left around the drill rig during off-shift
hours.
Trenching and installation of well vaults, conveyance piping, electrical service conduits, and
backfilling and paving will be conducted approximately one month after installation of the
extraction wells. This work is tentatively scheduled for June 1998, and will also be conducted
LIhACasSCbevmn-rcvmd-0ai 1 I'SRL 4
STO:S00 'H'5'.1 \OHA3HJ OLC9 Zt8 OTS$ St:9u HILZ/SO
