MAY 12 '9E 1736 FR LEVINE-FRICKE-RECON 510 652 43Wb 1u t 42t 3Yb r•4-1/we
Levinee icke•Recon
E.OINFFAS.M'OAWEM=Wl A ArillED 9CM'1MST2
GFW-7 (see Figure 1). While drilling well GEW-7, the drill rig will be located in such a mares r as
to avoid the service island canopy, while maintaining a minimum of 12 feet of clearance from the
southern property wall for tanker traffic. Access to all driveways will be maintained during the
drilling operations.
Trench Alignment
Chevron has recently installed new concrete pavement at the station, along with other
improvemeas. During the site meeting it was agreed that trenching activities associated with the
Phase I IRA construction should minimize impacts to the structural and aesthetic value of the
station improvements. LFR agreed to selectively saw-cut the concrete and use existing construction
joins in such a manner that obvious visible signs of trenching will be minimized.
The locations for the utility trench and vaults were determined during the site meeting, and the
enact concrete panels to be cut were identified. The trench alignment and vault locations were
verified in a sketch I sent by facsimile to you on May 7, 1998. Figure 2, which depicts this
aligtunent, is attached.
Other Access Issues
During the site meering we discussed the period of construction. Trenching will be performed
during the night when traffic is less heavy on Pacific Avenue and Ben Holt Drive. It was agreed
that the entrance to the station on Ben Holt Drive will remain open at all times during the
construction on the Chevron site.
The two entrances on Pacific Avenue will need to temporarily be closed for brief periods when
trenching is taking place. It was agreed that at least one of these entrances will remain open at all
times during the construction. It was also agreed that each entrance only be closed while trenching
and intrusive activities on that entrance are taking place. When trenching and intrusive activities are
complete during a particular shift, trench plates will be installed with asphalt cold patch along the
edges, to provide frill access at all entrances during nonconstrucdon periods.
If you have any questions or require additional information, please call me at (510) 596-9526.
Sincerely,
oe W.
