We are anticipating conducting
abandonment activities on either 11/19 and 11/20 or 11/16 and 11/27.
Abandonment of 2-inch PVC wells PZ-002A-1. PZ-002A-2 and PZ-003A by a "Mills Knife":
A mills knife is a tool used to cut perforations in well casing after the casing is in the ground. The Mills
knife is lowered into the well to the specified depth by the use of rods, the blade of the knife is engaged
by lifting the blade of the knife by a wireline; as the wireline is pulled up, the blade is forced into the
casing. Two continuous cuts offset by 180 degrees will be performed along the perforated interval of
the PVC wells. Once the screened interval of each well are cut open a tremie pipe is then lowered to
the bottom of the hole and grout is pumped from the total depth of well to surface (displacing and
containing any water from well). Once grouted the top 5 feet is overdrilled and removed.
Abandonment of 6-inch stainless-steel well GWE-002 by a "Nolte Air Perforator':
For the larger diameter SS screen, a Holte Air perforator will be used. This tool screws to the end of drill
pipe and will puncture rows of approximately 1"x 1/10" slots in steel casing having a thick wall up
to .450" (see attached specifications for the Holte Air Perforator). Once the screened interval of each
the well is perforated a tremie pipe is then lowered to the bottom of the hole and grout is pumped from
the total depth of well to surface (displacing and containing any water from well). After grouting is
complete the well vault and top 5 feet of the well will be excavated, backfilled and the ground surface
refinished.
Any additional questions or comments please contact Lucas or me.
Jason S.
