Geosyntec°
consultants
4.2.5 and in the QAPP (Appendix A). Sample containers will be labeled with sample
identification number, date, time, requested analyses, preservation method, and
sampler's initials. Groundwater samples from the wells will be analyzed for VOCs
using USEPA Method 8260B.
4.2.3 Field Quality Assurance Sampling
A detailed description of the quality control elements is presented in detail in the QAPP
(Appendix A). Three types of quality control samples will be collected to aid in
evaluating the analytical data quality (sample duplicates, equipment blanks, and trip
blanks). Duplicate samples will be collected at the rate of 10 percent, or one duplicate
sample for every 10 samples or fraction thereof for groundwater samples only.
Duplicate samples will not be collected for soil samples. Trip blanks are prepared by
the laboratory and are included in each sample shipment containing VOCs, for analysis
of VOCs. Field equipment blanks will be collected at a minimum frequency of at least
one per ten, or 10 percent of the primary sampling locations and at the onset of field
sampling activities when non-dedicated equipment is utilized.
4.2.4 Sample Nomenclature
This section describes the sample nomenclature for soil and groundwater samples
collected during field activities. These protocols are to be used on samples labels and
COC forms.
Samples will be labeled using a unique sample designation. Soil samples will be
labeled using a prefix of "SS" to designate the sample is a Soil Sample. Hydropunch
groundwater samples will be labeled using a prefix of"GW" denoting the sample type
is a Groundwater Sample. The prefix will be followed by a designation of `B" for
boring or"MW" for future monitoring well, boring or monitoring well number, and the
depth bgs which the sample was collected. An example of the sample nomenclature to
be utilized during this investigation is provided below.
Example(Primary Soil Samples)
• A soil sample collected from soil boring B-1 at a depth of 15 feet bgs would be
labeled as follows: SSB-1-15.
• A soil sample collected from the future monitoring well MW-125 at a depth of
20 feet bgs would be labeled as follows: SSMW-125-20.
Example(Primary Groundwater Sample)
Pre-Design Investigation Work Plan 21 18.05.12
