Geosyntec
consultants
Samples will be packed in ice chests containing sealed blue ice or wet ice contained in
double-bagged sealable plastic bags and a completed, signed, and dated COC form.
Special care will be taken to pack containers to minimize breakage.
4.2.6 Equipment Decontamination and Investigation Derived Waste
Prior to boring advancement and sample collection at each location, all drilling
equipment, down-hole drilling tools, and sampling devices will be cleaned thoroughly
with a portable steam cleaning system supplied by the drilling subcontractor in
accordance with SOP 1.0 (Appendix B).
Non-dedicated equipment will be decontaminated before and after collection of each
sample, or each sampling location is completed. Small and/or handheld equipment will
be washed in a non-phosphate detergent and potable water, rinsed in potable water, and
then double rinsed in de-ionized water.
Decontamination rinsate and soil cutting wastes will be produced during the
investigation. Following waste characterization, the bins and
wastes will be disposed at an approved off-site waste disposal facility by a licensed
waste hauler.
4.2.7 Survey of Sampling Locations
Each well and boring location will be surveyed following installation. Monitoring wells
will be surveyed for location, ground surface elevation, and measuring point elevation
in accordance with Section 3.0 of SOP 3.0 (Appendix B). Exploratory boring locations
will be surveyed for location and ground surface elevation.
Pre-Design Investigation Work Plan 23 18.05.12
