The conveyance piping will be cut and capped
below grade near the treatment system compound and at each of the SVE wells, SVE
condensate removal stations, and SVE expansion box , At the AS supply will be pulled
from the poly vinyl chloride (PVC) conduit and the PVC conduit will be capped within
well vaults and at the treatment system compound.
The conveyance piping in the south western portion of the Site between SVE-035 and
SVE-034 is secured along the side and roof of the building as shown on Figure 3. This
aboveground conveyance piping will be removed from the building. Where the
conveyance piping enters the subsurface near SVE-035, SVMWE-002, SVMWE-001,
and SVE-034, the pavement will be saw cut and the conveyance piping will be cut and
capped below grade.
The pavement surrounding well vaults will be saw cut and the vaults will be removed
during the well destruction activities. After the wells have been destroyed (discussed in
Section 3.3), the area will be repaved to match existing conditions. The pavement
section is expected to include compacted subgrade, 6-inches of aggregate base rock,
overlain by 4-inches of asphalt concrete. The three expansion box vaults (EB-2, 4, 5)
and two condensate removal vaults (CRP-3 and CRP-5) are used by both the SVE
system and the GETS. These vaults shall remain undisturbed while the GETS is in
operation.
Additional pavement repairs (resurfacing) will be made to portions above the
conveyance pipe that have subsided and in area south of Benjamin Holt Drive were
there is a high density of wells. These areas are highlighted in Figure 3. In these areas,
a licensed contractor will make the necessary repairs and/or complete the repavement
work. All pavement repairs will be completed to match the surface to the surrounding
grade and materials in accordance with state and local building ordnances.
3.3 Well Destruction
Well destruction will be conducted in accordance with SJCEHD Standards for Well
Construction and Destruction in San Joaquin County dated February 2005. Prior to
conducting subsurface work at the site, the well locations will be cleared for
underground utilities by contacting Underground Services Alert (USA) of Northern
California at least 72 hours before intrusive field activities are initiated.
