The EHD had directed the submitted of a work plan to conduct an air
sparge (AS) and soil vapor extraction (SVE) pilot test by letter dated 17 March 2014.
The EHD approves the work plan that includes:
• Installing one proposed AS well and three proposed SVE wells using eight-inch-diameter
hollow-stem augers at locations illustrated on Figure 5 of the work plan-,
• Collecting soil samples at five-foot intervals for lithologic evaluation during installation of
the AS and SVE wells;
• Screening proposed AS well at approximately forty-five to fifty feet below surface grade
(bsg), based on soil lithology;
• Screening proposed SVE wells at approximately twenty-five to forty feet bsg, based on
soil lithology;
• Submitting at least two soil samples from each borehole for chemical analysis for total
petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-g); benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total
xylenes (BTEX); and fuel oxygenates that include methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE),
ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME), di-isopropyl ether
(DIPE) and tertiary-butyl alcohol (TBA);
• Conducting SVE in stages. "extracting soil gas from one SVE well at different wellhead
applied vacuums and flow rates over a period of approximately two to four hours, or as
field conditions dictate" while using groundwater monitoring wells MW3, MW13, MW14,
MW15, MW17, MW19, MW22 and the proposed AS and SVE wells (when not being
used for injection or extraction) as observation points to determine the radius of
infli 1o_r
