s
Vapor Extraction Test Report
Former Thrifty Oil Service Station # 172
September 14, 1995
' 1.0- INTRODUCTION
y Tfus report presents the results of soil vapor extraction (SVE) testing activities performed at
Thrifty Service Station#172, located at 7647 Pacific Avenue in Stockton, California. (Figure 1).
The vapor extraction testing activities were conducted to:
• Assess the feasibility of using vapor extraction to mitigate hydrocarbon-affected soil
beneath the site;
Estimate air extraction rates;
-- 0 Calculate the approximate vacuum radius-of-influence; and
• Collect and analyze influent air samples from each extraction well
In addition, test results may be used to:
• Estimate hydrocarbon removal rates
• Design an extraction well field array;
• Select the type of treatment technology;
• Estimate the flow rate capacity required for a vapor extraction system.
Appendix A includes definitions of terms and abbreviations used in this report.
2.0 VAPOR EXTRACTION TEST ACTIVITEES
Three vapor extraction tests were performed at this site as outlined in Appendix B. Each test
array consisted of extracting vapors from one well (the test well) while observing vacuum
responses in other wells (the observation wells). The test conditions were as follows:
TEST 1 2 3
TEST DATE 6/26/95 6/26/95 6/26/95
TEST WELL VW-A VW-B VW-C!
WELL SCREEN (fbg) 5-35 5-48 10-45 _
TEST TYPE Constant Flow Constant Flow Constant Flow
DURATION (min) 60 60 60
i VW B, VW_C, VW-A '
MW
OBSERVATION WELLS MW-1.
