Mr. Pat Riddle
Page 2
Samples were transported under chain of custody to State-certified A & L Western Agricultural
Laboratories where they were analyzed for TDS, chloride and sodium using the DI WET
extraction procedure.
Analytical Results:
TDS in samples collected from the pond ranged from 20 to 420 mg/1 and averaged 144 mg/Q.
Chloride ranged from 9 to 27 mg/1 and averaged 15 mg/P. Sodium ranged from 2.5 to 18.0
mg/f and averaged 7.3 mg/P.
In the background samples collected north of the pond (GVP2 NP series) TDS ranged from 107
to 213 mg/f and averaged 200 mg/P. Chloride ranged from 9 to 12 mg/f and averaged 11
mg/f. Sodium ranged from 3.4 to 7.3 mg/1 and averaged 5.2 mg/P.
In the background samples collected south of the pond (GVP2 SP series) TDS ranged from 40
to 53 mg/1 and averaged 47 mg/f. Chloride ranged from 5 to 14 mg/f and averaged 9 mg/P.
Sodium ranged from 0.9 to 1.1 mg/f and averaged 1.0 mg/P. Analytical data are summarized
in Table 1. Laboratory data sheets and chain of custody documentation are included in
Attachment B.
Conclusions:
TDS, chloride and sodium concentrations within Pond 2 show no significant elevations above
the background concentrations to the north. The concentrations of the analytes are slightly
higher than those from the background location to the south.
No regular pattern of increasing or decreasing concentrations with depth is apparent. The
absolute concentrations of TDS, choride and sodium in the sample extracts do not exceed
drinking water standards.
Soils within Pond 2 are not significantly elevated in salinity and do not pose a threat to
groundwater quality.
Bodwi.S\pmd2.lpl
