Lori Duncan [EH]
From: Lori Duncan [EH]
Sent: Monday, November 01, 2004 9:28 AM
To: 'kdoty@markthomas.com'
Subject: hammer lane/99 project
Ken,
Thank you for your information concerning the above referenced project. I have been in contact with Adam BruckVer in
the County Public Works Department, and will work with him to get copies of the parts of the plans that pertain to our
Environmental Health issues. Our concern, in addition to the water supply wells, is that there are a number of monitoring
wells associated with the ARCO site, located on both sides of the frontage road, and in the vacant lot areas to the north of
the station and northwest of the frontage road/Hammer Lane intersection. There are also monitoring wells associated with
the Shell station on the west side of the freeway.
I spoke with Paul Supple, the ARCO/BP environmental contact for this site, on Friday 10/29/04. He was unaware of the
status of the project, as were their environmental consultants, SECOR International, Inc.. Paul said it may be possible to
work with the construction project to save the monitoring wells. If this is not possible, the wells need to be properly
destroyed before construction begins, and re-installed later. Adam told me he thought that all parties involved were aware
of the monitoring wells, despite the fact that the environmental branches of both ARCO and the County have not been
involved in the planning up to this point.
Thank you,
Lori Duncan, Senior REHS
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department
Iduncan@sjcehd.com
(209)468-0337
t
