Hwy 99 E. Frontage Rd.
Stockton CA 95212
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) has
reviewed the "Preliminary Site Assessment Report— September 2000" dated October 2,
2000 that was prepared by Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE) on behalf of the above
referenced site and has the following comments.
The report documents fieldwork that took place on June 25, 2000, including the installation of
one onsite ground water monitoring well, and the subsequent development and sampling of
the well that took place on July 3, 2000.
The soil boring for the monitoring well was continuously cored to a total depth of 70 feet
below surface grade (bsg). Soil samples were collected at approximate five-foot intervals.
Selected samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) as gasoline by EPA
Method 5030A, TPH as diesel by EPA Method 8015M, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and
xylene by EPA Method 8020 and oxygenated fuel additives by EPA Method 8260B. Results
of the analyses were non-detect for all constituents except for 2.9 milligrams per kilogram of
TPHd in the 30 foot bsg sample. Note that Table 2, Analytical Results of Soil Samples, has
incorrectly reported this result as non-detect. Please have your consultant correct this value
on the table. The water sample collected on July 3, 2000 was analyzed for the same
contaminant constituents as the soil samples. All results were non-detect.
PHS/EHD directs that another groundwater monitoring and sampling event be conducted at
this site, and that it includes sampling of the onsite domestic well. In addition to the above
listed constituents, analysis for 1,2-dichloroethane and ethylene dibromide must be
conducted. Following receipt of the data from this next phase of work, PHS/EHD will review
the site for closure.
