2.0 RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS <br /> The Project Manager or Task Leader is responsible for assigning project <br /> staff to collect soil and groundwater samples with hollow-stem augers. <br /> The Task Leader is also responsible for assuring that this and any other <br /> appropriate procedures are followed by all project personnel. <br /> The project staff assigned to the collection of soil and groundwater <br /> samples with hollow-stem augers are responsible for completing their <br /> tasks according to this and other appropriate procedures. All staff are <br /> responsible for reporting deviations from the procedure or noncon- <br /> formance to the Task Leader, Project Manager, or Project QA/QC <br /> Officer. <br /> Only qualified personnel shall be allowed to perform this procedure. <br /> At a minimum, employees qualified to perform soil and groundwater <br /> sampling using hollow-stem augers will be required to have: <br /> • Read this SOP. <br /> • Indicated to the Task Leader that all procedures contained in this <br /> SOP are understood. <br /> • Previously performed soil and ;groundwater sampling in a man- <br /> ner consistent with the procedures described in this SOP. <br /> Personnel who do not have previous experience sampling soil and <br /> groundwater will be trained on site by another qualified and experi- <br /> enced employee, and will be supervised directly by that employee until <br /> he/she has demonstrated an ability to perform the procedures. The <br /> Project Manager shall document personnel qualifications related to this <br /> procedure in the project QA files. <br /> 2-1 <br />
