Encroachment permits will be required for all work <br /> within the State operating rights of way. <br /> ' SP-13: Encroachment Permits <br /> ' It <br /> Prior to start of work within State highway right of way, Contractor shall secure an <br /> Encroachment Permit from the District Permit Engineer in the district where the work takes place <br /> r at the direction of the Caltrans Contract Manager shall obtain verbal approval from the <br /> ' egional maintenance managers 48 hours prior to the start of field work. No fee will be charged <br /> he Contractor by the State for this permit and/or approval. <br /> ' SP-14:Traffic Control <br /> Traffic control (barricades, portable flashing beacons, and detours) necessary to accomplish the <br /> contract work within Caltrans right-of-way will be performed by Caltrans unless otherwise <br /> specified in the Task Order. When Caltrans is to provide the traffic control, the Contractor must <br /> request traffic control in advance of the work and obtain proper clearance. Traffic control which <br /> is necessary outside of the Caltrans right-of-way will be the responsibility of the Contractor in <br /> coordination with the appropriate local jurisdiction and will be paid per bid items 59, 60, and 61 <br /> for shoulder closures or as extra work per Article VII.0 for traffic control other than shoulder <br /> closures. <br /> SPA 5:Hazardous Waste Manifest <br /> The Caltrans Contract Manager or his/her designated representative will sign all Hazardous <br /> ' Waste Manifests for hazardous waste removed from the site. The Contractor shall not sign the <br /> Hazardous Waste Manifest as the generator. <br /> ' SPA 6:Underground Services Alert (USA) <br /> Before any Task Order work involving disturbance of the ground beyond surface sampling <br /> ' begins, the Contractor shall obtain an inquiry identification number from USA, documentation of <br /> which must be given to the Caltrans Contract Manager. In Northern California the Contractor <br /> should call 1-800-642-2444. In Southern California the Contractor should call 1-800-422-4133. <br /> ' USA should respond within 48 hours. <br /> SP-17:Owner/Regulatory Contracts <br /> The Contractor shall only contact property owners as directed by the Caltrans Contract <br /> Manager. The Contractor shall coordinate with other agencies, such as federal Environmental <br /> ' Protection Agency (EPA), California Environmental Protection Agency (Cal-EPA), Department of <br /> Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB), local <br /> environmental health agency, and others as necessary to complete the field survey. The <br /> ' Caltrans Contract Manager shall notify and invite the Contractor to all regulatory agency <br /> meetings related to this investigation. All written correspondence with regulatory agencies shall <br /> be submitted to the Caltrans Contract Manager and sent to the agencies by Caltrans. <br /> SP-18:Metrication <br />
