SOIL VAPOR EXTRACTION PILOT SW WORK PLAN San Joaquin County <br /> Montgomery Ward Auto Service Center Public Health Services Department <br /> 5400 Pacific Avenue, Stockton CA Site Code 2163 <br /> 1 <br /> APPENDIX A <br />' SUMMARY OF SITE ASSESSMENTS <br />' WASTE OIL UST REMOVAL (1986) <br /> On August 28, 1986, one 550-gallon capacity waste oil underground storage tank (UST) was <br /> removed from the Montgomery Ward site (see Figure 2) One soil sample was collected from <br /> beneath the UST by Canonie Environmental Services Corp (Canome) and tested for total <br /> petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) using EPA Method 8015, purgeable aromatics using EPA <br /> Method 8020, purgeable halocarbons using EPA Method 8010, and polychlorinated biphenyls <br />' (PCBs) using EPA Method 8080 No TPH, purgeable aromatics or PCBs were detected in the <br /> sample Trichlorofluoromethane (0 05 parts per million [ppm]) was the only purgeable <br /> halocarbons detected Based on these testing results, no additional assessment activities are <br />' required in this area of the Montgomery Ward site <br /> BULK OIL UST REMOVALS (1988) <br /> On June 22, 1988, four bulk oil USTs (two 1,000-gallon and two 500-gallon capacity) were <br /> removed from the Montgomery Ward site (see Figure 2) Two soil samples were collected <br /> from beneath each UST by Canome and tested for TPH, and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene <br /> and xylenes (BTEX) No TPH or BTEX were detected in any of the samples tested Based on <br /> these testing results, no additional assessment activities are required in this area of the <br /> Montgomery Ward site <br />' GASOLINE UST REMOVALS (1986) <br /> On June 26, 1986, two 10,000-gallon capacity gasoline USTs were removed from the <br />' Montgomery Ward site (see Figure 2) The USTs were used to store regular and unleaded <br /> gasoline A representative of the Sari Joaquin County Public Health Services Department <br /> (SJCPHSD) was reportedly on-site during USTs removal activities The underground product <br />' lines were triple rinsed, stubbed and abandoned in place A concrete slab on which the USTs <br /> were located was also abandoned in place The following summarizes the investigation <br /> activities completed to date at the Montgomery Ward site <br />' PHASE I INVESTIGATION (1988) <br /> In May 1988, A D Selditch & Associates, Inc (ADS) drilled and sampled five borings on <br /> the Montgomery Ward site to determine whether any release had occurred in the former <br /> USTS (SCC <br /> 1✓ 2.)
