I
3. 0 EFFLUENT HANDLING
All effluent generated during assessment activities was
sealed in labeled 55-gallon drums. The drums were stored
' on-site, pending the results of the analytical testing, at which
time the appropriate disposal method was determined.
i
4. 0 SUBSURFACE CONDITIONS
The subsurface conditions encountered In the soil borings
are presented on the boring logs (see Appendix A) . The
following is a generalized summary of the soil stratigraphy
' encountered.
4 . 1 FILL
' The fill at the Site generally occurs as gravel base
material below the asphalt and concrete surface, and as fill
material in the vicinity of the former location of the USTs,
underground pipelines and sewer lines.
4 . 2 NATURAL GROUND
The material encountered in the borings consisted generally
of interbedded brown to light reddish brown, mottled dark brown
clayey silt and sandy to silty clay to the depths explored (30
feet bgs) . The soil materials encountered were thinly layered
and slightly porous in a moist and stiff condition. A solvent
odor was noted in soil samples collected from boring B-9 from a
' depth of 4 feet bgs to the termination depth of the boring.
4 . 3 GROUND WATER
' No ground water was encountered during drilling. The depth
to ground water at the Site is reported to be approximately 61
feet bgs. This depth is based on the water depth obtained from
' Observation Well Station No. 11 measured sometime in 1984 . The
well is located in the vicinity of the intersection of Inglewood
Avenue and Lincoln Road (personal communication with Ed Formosa,
City of Stockton Municipal Utilities Department, July 6, 1992) .
5. 0 ANALYTICAL TESTING
5 . 1 SOIL SAMPLES
All soil samples were delivered for analytical testing to
Calscience Environmental Laboratories, Inc. , a California
' Project No. 1232 -5-
E1VVIRONMENTAL AUDIT,INC®
